Guidelines and submission rules

How To Apply

Applications must be submitted online via our Submission Form. An artist statement, CV, and max. 5 images are required to apply. Payment is required at time of submission.

All images must represent the actual artwork as closely as possible.  If your work is misrepresented in any way, we reserve the right to refuse it.

Cost of submission is $50 for up to 3 entries and $5 per every entry thereafter. It is a non-refundable fee and no changes of images can be made after you submit without another entry fee. Your submissions do not guarantee inclusion into a show. The decision to accept entries into a show is based solely on the Gallery.

Uploading Images

Upload your images using the online form. Files should be no larger than 2 MB.

Jpg data files must be labeled as follow:

First name_Last name_Artwork Title_Medium_Height x Width (in or cm).jpg making sure that underscores go between your name and the name of the piece (i.e. John Smith_Golden Sun_Oil_32x40in.JPG).

Re-sizing images of your work for submission can be done easily with Paint (Microsoft) or similar applications. There are also free program available for download online with which to safely re-size your images.

Accepted Art Forms

JanKossen Contemporary exhibits all genres and materials including photography, painting, drawing, print, fabric art, and mixed media. Essentially, if it can be installed on a wall, or placed on a pedestal or floor, it is eligible for submission.   For three dimensional pieces, For this we require images taken from all sides/angles. We are not accepting performance or video art for our exhibitions.

Shipping & Presentation

If your submission is accepted, you will be notified with details regarding shipping of your artwork to the gallery. Please take care to transport your work carefully, as we will return it to you with the same materials provided. Return postage in the form of a label or bill of landing must be included with your shipped artwork.

Works can be delivered in person during gallery operating hours.

Works must be labeled with the artist’s name, artwork title, date, and dimensions. Please include your price list with your package.

All artwork must be delivered at a day prior to the installation. Deadlines are provided on the application form.


Damage to artwork or framing is not the responsibility or liability of the gallery. We care about your work, but cannot accept liability.


JanKossen Contemporary reserves the right to refuse an artwork if it is radically different from the submitted image. Furthermore, if the artwork is not received in ready to hang condition, we reserve the right to refuse the work or charge the artist an additional fee.

Gallery Commission

JanKossen receives 50% commission. We cover the expenses involved in the exhibition including space rental fees, staff, unpacking, install, uninstall and repacking, administrative and PR costs for opening.


Artists maintain copyright.

All entrants grant JanKossen Contemporary the right to use or publish images of their work for the purpose of exhibition promotion, future call advertisement, etc. All accepted works will be placed on this site, gallery webpage, and other social media portals.

All submissions must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe on the rights of any other party. Entrants must be the sole owner of copyright for all images submitted, and must obtain written permission of featured individuals or their parents/guardians of children featured under the age of 18. It is the artist’s responsibility to obtain all model or property releases.
